How old is minecraft

It's hard to believe it's been almost a decade since Minecraft first debuted on Xbox!

The first version of the game was called Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and launched digitally on May 9th, 2012 for 1600 Microsoft Points (remember those?). An updated Xbox One version was released two years later in 2014.

Minecraft itself wasn't even a year old when it came to the Xbox 360 platform, with the PC version having officially released back in November 2011 after a couple of years of public testing.

As we all know, the game went on to be massively popular, and eventually received a retail release for the Xbox 360 in 2013.

Developer Mojang is also celebrating something else this month in the form of a brand-new Minecraft title.

Minecraft Dungeons is an all-new action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, and is coming to both Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass on May 26th.
